MalaCards
Integrated human disease compendium
"One card per disease, built from ~70 upstream sources."
About the resource
MalaCards is a disease-centric companion to GeneCards from the Weizmann Institute. It assembles roughly 70 upstream sources — OMIM, Orphanet, MeSH, DO, ICD, NCI Thesaurus, ClinVar, GTR, GWAS Catalog, DrugBank, KEGG, Reactome and many others — into a single per-disease record. Each card aggregates aliases, gene associations, ranked variant evidence, pathways, drugs, clinical trials, phenotypes, publications and external cross-references.
It's particularly useful as a one-page jumping-off point: rather than visiting six databases to assemble what's known about a rare disorder, the card collates and ranks evidence with provenance links back to each source. Free for academic use; commercial use is licensed.
What you'd use it for
- 01Get an aggregated overview of a disease across many upstream sources
- 02Triangulate aliases and synonyms across vocabularies
- 03Pull a ranked candidate gene list for a rare disease
- 04Cross-reference associated drugs, trials and phenotypes in one view
