WHO Global Health Observatory
About the resource
The WHO's Global Health Observatory (GHO) is the flagship hub for the organisation's health statistics — life expectancy, cause-of-death, mortality and morbidity, the Sustainable Development Goal indicators, and disease-specific surveillance series. Around it sit specialised systems: GHE (Global Health Estimates) for modelled disease burden, FluNet and FluID for influenza surveillance, the Global Tuberculosis Database for TB notifications and outcomes, the Global Health Sector Strategy dashboards for HIV/STI/viral hepatitis, and the WHO outbreak and epidemic intelligence platforms (DON, EIOS) for situational awareness.
GHO and most of these systems publish open, structured data and offer APIs. The data underpins national reporting, the World Health Statistics annual report and downstream global comparative analyses.
